Shreeranya Renewable India is a scientific and educational start-up dedicated to exploring and recognizing the importance of renewable energy resources amidst climate change to protect environment and habitats, and helping the guardians of the future to understand, adopt, protect and implement renewable energy technologies and sustainable energy solutions in the day-to-day life.
Our dedicated team is continuously pushing to impart the boundaries, knowledge related to renewable energy resources, sustainable agriculture and climate change in the young generation. One of our key efforts is to bring academia and industry together to enhance innovations in the field of renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, and climate change etc.
The main beneficiaries of our initiative are academicians, young Indians and renewable energy industry and so on. Our educational programmes provide teachers the tools they need to engage young students starting grade seven.
Our research is shared with the Indian audience through renowned Green Plant Mantra, a journal, and Shreeranya E-Bulletin, digital products, and other media managed by Shreeranya Renewable India, as well as through live events, workshops, conferences and interactive sessions.
Our start-up relies on funds generated through advertisement, sponsorship, and subscriptions to take our work forward in research, education, energy, agriculture and environment conservation in India.

Reji Kumar Pillai,
(President - India Smart Grid Forum & Chairman – Global Smart Grid Federation)
, is the President of India Smart Grid Forum (www.indiasmartgrid.org) since its inception in 2011 and is an internationally renowned expert with over three decades of experience in the electricity sector in diverse functions covering the entire value chain and across continents. He is spearheading a mission to leverage technology to transform the electric grid in India and light every home at affordable cost through sustainable developmental models. Reji played the pivotal role in formulation of the Smart Grid Vision & Roadmap for India (August 2013) and the launch of a National Smart Grid Mission (March 2015) by Government of India, issue of Model Smart Grid Regulations (June 2015) by Forum of Regulators; and issue of Standards for Smart Meters (IS 16444 -2015 and IS 15959 Part 2) by Bureau of Indian Standards. He is presently advocating for a “Right to Electricity Act” that will ensure lifeline supply of electricity to all citizens in the country. His current areas of research include: WiFi as Last Mile Connectivity Solution for Smart Metering, Smart Grids as Anchor Infrastructure for Smart Cities, Development of Smart City Maturity Model, Grid Interactive Buildings and Campuses (Smart Microgrids that can participate in evolving transactive energy market), Future of Transportation; and Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Standards for India.
In November 2016 Reji was unanimously elected as Chairman of Global Smart Grid Federation (GSGF), a global umbrella organization of smart grid associations from 16 countries and the European Union.
As an entrepreneur, Reji has built successful enterprises in India and overseas and exited them. Reji has studied Engineering, Finance, Management and Law; worked with NTPC and IBM and has been senior consultant with ADB, World Bank and USAID. A recognized thought leader in smart grid technologies and concepts of smart cities, Reji is a popular key-note speaker at international symposiums and conferences on smart grids and smart cities. He has also contributed to several articles and books; and write a fortnightly column “Smartening India” on Infracircle (Infracircle.in), an online publication of News Corp.
Dr. Jami Hossain, an engineer and a scientist-entrepreneur is credited for having successfully undertaken commissioning of first grid connected wind farms in India. Since 1985, for nearly 30 years, he has carried out pioneering research work on different aspects of renewable energy, particularly wind energy.
Dr. Hossain has played a key role in technology transfer of cutting edge technologies such as gearless wind turbines to India and in the knowledge incubation of some of the successful wind businesses.
Since 2003, he has been active with World Wind Energy Association (WWEA) www.wwindea.org as its treasurer (2011-13) and now as the Technical Chair of the Association. He has contributed to wide ranging issues faced by the wind sector across the world and has coordinated with international agencies like WWEA, REN21, GWEC, IRENA, Worldbank etc.
Dr. Manjyot Bhan, is a Policy and Business Fellow at the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (C2ES) working in the areas of U.S. energy, climate policy and business strategy. C2ES is an independent, non-partisan, non-profit organization working to forge practical solutions to climate change. A key objective is using market-based strategies to reduce emissions cost-effectively.
Dr. Bhan contributes to many facets of the organization including state energy and climate policy analyses and business engagement through the Business Environmental Leadership Council (BELC), consisting of top Fortune 500 companies with combined revenues of $2 trillion and 3.5 million employees, spanning multiple sectors: IT, energy, finance, automobiles, power, chemicals and oil and gas.
Prior to C2ES, Dr. Bhan was a research associate at the Center for Environmental Policy at American University where she worked with the ICT sector on chemical regulatory management. Dr. Bhan helped to launch a multi-stakeholder partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), environmental NGOs, and academic institutions, to accelerate the adoption of clean and cost-effective technologies for energy, water, and materials that protect health and the environment. Dr. Bhan has worked in the area of international climate change at the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
Dr. Bhan received her Ph.D. in public administration and environmental policy from American University in Washington D.C. In addition, she has a Master of Science in corporate sustainability from Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ and an undergraduate degree in economics from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai, India..
Dr. Javier Collado Ruano is Professor on Global Citizenship Education, Sustainability, Philosophy of Education, History, and International Relations. He holds a PhD in Dissemination of Knowledge by the Federal University of Bahia (Brazil) and also a PhD in Philosophy by the University of Salamanca (Spain). Master Degree in Sociology of Education by the University of Seville (Spain) and Graduation in History by the University of Valencia (Spain) with specialization in International Relations and Archeology by the University of Palermo (Italy).
He is founder and Director at Global Education Magazine (supported by UNESCO and UNHCR) and President at Education for Life NGO. He is also Academic Member of the Big History Institute (Australia), Academic Member at World Biomimetic Foundation (Spain), Member of the editorial board at the Journal of International Society of Philosophy and Cosmology (Ukraine), Chief Advisor and Conferment of Fellowship Awards at PAN African Institute for Entrepreneurship and Community Development (Nigeria), and Education Advisor at Human Dignity and Humiliation Studies (USA). His research interests are Transdisciplinary, Biomimicry, Sustainable Development, Global Citizenship, E-learning, Cultural Anthropology, Culture of Peace, Spirituality, Emotional Intelligence, Sociology, Democracy and Governability, Poverty Eradication, Human Rights, Philosophy, Epistemology, Arts, Globalization, Co-evolution, Big History, Complexity, and Life.
Dr. Sushil Saigal works on issues related to climate change, forestry, and natural resources management. He has over two decades of experience in the Indian forestry, environment, and development sectors. He has several publications, including four books, to his credit. He received his academic and professional training at Cambridge, Oxford, Berkeley, East-West Center, and the Indian Institute of Forest Management. He is presently working as Institutional Development & Governance Advisor with the USAID-supported Forest-PLUS Program. .
Ms. Anisha Sharma, is a Principal of The Royal Academy, Raipur. She is a dynamic leader and educationist serving as Principal for last 13 years with 27 years of experience in teaching, administration and management of school activities. She helped the management by dynamic professional work which helped in profitable budgeting without losing the safe and healthy environment of school. Her greatest strengths are logical and critical thinking, ability to solve the problem quickly and efficiently, positive approach, confidence, excellent communication skills, and humility and management ability, which helped her to achieve successful head position. She holds triple Master's degree in English literature, Sociology and History from Ravi Shankar University, Raipur. She obtained Bachelor of Education (B. Ed.) from Barkatullah University, Bhopal. She received several awards in the field of education, she was awarded by Indian Solidarity Council for her Contribution in the field of education and she was also awarded many times by Rotary club as well as Lions International of Raipur chapter. Apart from teaching and administration of academical institutions, she contributes articles on different social issues in daily English News Paper she got an opportunity to anchor programmers on Doordarshan, she was invited by Zee 24 ghante as an expert for talk show based on school kids.
Sobhanbabu PRK, M.Tech , IIT Bombay, is Chief Executive at DevGreen Energy Consulting. He is an energy management professional with 25 years of consulting and field research experience in energy efficiency, renewable energy (biomass, solar, wind, biogas, waste to energy, MSW etc.), energy audits, rural energy access, waste minimization/ cleaner production, resource efficiency, development of MSME clusters, and energy policy studies. Have executed projects supported by multi-lateral/ bilateral agencies such as USAID, WB, GEF, IFC, UNDP, UNIDO, UNEP, JICA, EU, SDC, UNF; international agencies like ICETT, IGES, IRG, WIP, SEI, MURC, MRI; Central & State governments (MoP, MNRE, DST) and government organizations, corporate sector, foundations/ NGOs. The sectors of focus of these projects have been industry (both large and MSME), agriculture, commercial, municipal, and domestic sectors. Skills include networking with partners, project conceptualization, proposal development, strategic planning, project management, field research, monitoring & evaluation, formulation of energy saving strategies for implementation, technical assistance for implementation of energy saving projects, energy policy studies, outreach & information dissemination, and training & capacity building. Was Co-editor for "Handbook on Sugar Mill Cogeneration in India", which was published as a part of the project supported by USAID.
Kathryn Craig is a K-12 servant leader who partners with educators to ensure the success of ALL students, but especially those labeled “economically-disadvantaged”. Her passion and knowledge for working with a diverse student population comes not only her extensive professional training and ensuring the learning and growth of tens of thousands of students, but also her personal experience of growing up as an “under-resourced” student. She has published a plethora of literature to assist educators world-wide with practical strategies of how to best reach and teach students. She has a Bachelor’s in English/Language Arts and a Master’s in Education. Kathryn resides in Texas (United States) with her husband and daughter.
Mrs. Shanthi vijayabhaskar is a Principal of a CBSE school in Chennai. She holds Master’s degree in Public Administration & English Literature from Madras University, Chennai. She has obtained her Master’s degree in Education, from Annamalai University, Chidambaram. She is an academician and educationist ministered as a Principal for a decade and with a total experience of over three decades. She has a passion for teaching, and has involved herself with administration and managing school developmental activities. She has involved herself in the holistic development of the students with great involvement. She feels that the students should not only excel in academics but also in Sports, Cultural activities and extend their abilities and interests for social cause. She is very keen in developing the communication skills, self- confidence, positive thought process & the feel of sharing & caring in the students. She has conducted workshops for staff and students as per the need of the hour. She has handled teenagers, teaching and supporting them to face the board examinations in a confident manner. Riya Singh is a firm believer in a continuous process of learning and expressing through writing. She believes in learning from family, friends, mentors, books, everything and everyone in life. She is motivated by her own life journey from a happy childhood to a fun loving teenager. She is graduated in Industrial Microbiology from Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University, from a successful homemaker who headed towards a career 10 years post marriage which began as a Social Entrepreneur.
She has tremendous respect for elderly and love for kids. While designing her first start-up she tried to balance between nature, science and development in a sustainable manner. Through her start-up, she is trying to make a happy environment where knowledge flow from elderly to kids and love flow from kids to elderly.
Vineet Kumar is a Research Scholar at the Centre for Studies in Science Policy (CSSP), Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Delhi. He has taught Environmental Studies to the undergraduate students at the Janki Devi Memorial College, Delhi University. He has attended several national and international conferences, training programs, and seminars in the concerned areas.
His research interest lies in the climate change issues, renewable energy, energy policy, innovation studies and intellectual property rights. He has extensive research experience in the field of renewable energy especially wind energy and several environmental issues. His future research inclinations are varied that includes traditional knowledge, technology transfer, and international relations.
Dr. Kavita Singh, an Assistant Professor, Course Co-ordinator, Department of Environmental Science, M. S. College, University of Delhi. She has research experience in the field of environmental biotechnology, heavy metal bioremediation and plant physiology and biochemistry and published many research articles in the peer reviewed journals like “Protoplasm” and “Plant Physiology and Biochemistry”.
She worked for her doctoral research degree at National Research Centre on Plant Biotechnology and Department of Environmental Studies, University of Delhi. She also worked as Research Associate under DBT (Department of Biotechnology) project of National Research Centre on Plant Biotechnology (NRCPB) on "Development of haploid inducer lines of Brassica juncea through genetic engineering of centromere histone protein"
She has received awards of Senior Research Fellowship from Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, Jawaharlal Nehru Scholarships from Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund, and UGC-National Eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Eligibility for Lectureship with 81 %.
